Weathering
All tires experience weathering over time. Constant exposure to the elements will lead to cracks in between the tread blocks and inside the sidewall, which leave the inner parts of your tire vulnerable. Tread slowly wears away over time, resulting in a lower tread depth and less grip. If your tread depth is 2/32nds of an inch, it is too low and must be replaced. A common way to measure your tread depth is to place a penny head first into the tread; if part of Lincoln’s head is covered, you have more than 2/32nds of an inch of tread. The typical recommendation from tire manufacturers is five to six years between replacements, with 10 years being the absolute maximum. A date stamp on the tire’s sidewall states the date it was manufactured so you can stay on schedule.
